Getting Started

7 questions

Livea is a physician-supervised medical weight loss program with 8 clinic locations in Minnesota and Wisconsin, plus telehealth options across both states. We offer personalized programs that combine medical oversight, FDA-approved and compounded medications when appropriate, nutritional guidance, behavioral coaching, and ongoing accountability.

Your program is built around your unique biology, health history, and goals — not a generic meal plan. Every patient starts with a comprehensive consultation that includes an InBody body composition scan, health history review, and a personalized program recommendation from our clinical team.

Most adults who want to lose weight and improve their health are good candidates for a Livea program. We serve patients across a wide range — from those with 15 pounds to lose to those managing significant obesity-related health conditions such as type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, sleep apnea, or joint pain.

During your first consultation, our clinical team will review your health history, goals, and lifestyle to recommend the right program for you. You do not need to be severely overweight to benefit from medical weight loss support.

Your first consultation at Livea typically includes:

  • A comprehensive health history review
  • An InBody body composition scan (measuring muscle mass, fat mass, and metabolic rate)
  • A conversation about your weight loss goals and past experiences
  • A program recommendation from our clinical team
  • A discussion of medication options if you are a GLP-1 or other medication candidate

Most initial consultations take 45–60 minutes. You can schedule at a clinic near you or via telehealth.

Livea is a medically supervised program, not a commercial diet plan. Your care team includes physicians and nurse practitioners who can prescribe medications, order labs, and adjust your plan based on your health data. We address the biological and hormonal factors that make weight loss difficult — things that tracking points or counting calories simply cannot fix.

Commercial diet programs treat weight loss as a behavioral problem. Livea treats it as a medical one. That distinction matters enormously for outcomes, particularly for patients who have tried and failed other approaches multiple times.

No referral is needed to start at Livea. You can book a consultation directly through our website or by calling 763-319-2020. Our providers will conduct a full intake evaluation at your first visit and can coordinate with your primary care physician as appropriate — but you do not need their blessing to get started.

Most patients can get an appointment within a few days to a week at their nearest Livea location. Telehealth appointments often have faster availability. Once you complete your initial consultation and your program is set up, you can typically begin the same day or within a few days.

Not at all. Livea serves patients across a wide spectrum — from those who want to lose 15–20 pounds for health or quality-of-life reasons to those managing significant excess weight with related health conditions. Our programs are equally effective for someone breaking through a weight loss plateau as for someone who needs comprehensive metabolic support.

If weight and body composition are affecting your health, energy, or confidence, Livea can help — regardless of where you are starting from.

Programs & Pricing

7 questions

Livea offers six core programs:

  • Medical Weight Loss — Our foundational physician-supervised program combining nutritional guidance, behavioral coaching, and clinical oversight.
  • GLP-1 Medications — Semaglutide and tirzepatide programs, including compounded options starting at $69/month.
  • Hormone Therapy (HRT) — For patients with hormonal imbalances affecting weight and metabolism.
  • NAD+ Therapy — Cellular energy and metabolic support through NAD+ infusions or injections.
  • Lipo-B12 Injections — To support energy, mood, and fat metabolism.
  • Customized Extended Plans — Personalized programs tailored to your timeline and goals.

Many patients combine programs for optimal results. Your provider will recommend the right combination at your consultation.

Program costs vary depending on which program you choose and what medications or services are included. Compounded GLP-1 medications start at $69/month — significantly more affordable than brand-name alternatives. Livea programs are priced on a monthly membership basis.

We recommend booking a free consultation to get a personalized quote based on your specific needs. Livea is doctor recommended and typically HSA/FSA eligible — check with your provider to learn more. Payment plans are also available for qualifying patients.

Your Livea membership includes:

  • Regular appointments with your physician or nurse practitioner
  • Health coaching and accountability check-ins
  • InBody body composition scans to track real progress
  • Nutritional guidance and meal planning support
  • Access to program educational resources
  • Plan adjustments as your progress and needs evolve

Medications (GLP-1, HRT, NAD+, Lipo-B12) are billed separately from your membership fee.

Yes. Livea builds customized programs tailored to your individual timeline and goals — there is no rigid one-size-fits-all duration. Whether you need a few months of focused support or longer-term physician supervision, your provider will design a plan that fits your situation. Ask about extended program options at your free consultation.

Program length depends on which program you choose and your individual goals. Medical Weight Loss is structured around monthly memberships that continue as long as you are actively working toward your goals. Many patients complete an active weight loss phase and then transition to a maintenance plan. Your provider will outline a recommended timeline and milestones at your first appointment.

Livea offers flexibility for patients whose circumstances change. Pause and cancellation policies vary by program. We strongly encourage patients to speak with their care coordinator before pausing or canceling — our team can often adjust your program to better fit your current situation rather than interrupting your progress entirely.

Yes. Livea offers telehealth appointments across both Minnesota and Wisconsin for initial consultations, follow-up appointments, and GLP-1 medication management. This makes Livea accessible whether you live in the Twin Cities metro or in greater Minnesota or Wisconsin.

Some services — such as InBody body composition scans and certain injection therapies — require an in-person visit, but the majority of your program can be managed virtually if you prefer.

GLP-1 Medications

7 questions

GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide-1) medications mimic a natural hormone your body produces after eating. They slow gastric emptying so you feel full longer, reduce appetite signals in the brain, and help regulate blood sugar. Originally developed for type 2 diabetes, they have become one of the most effective tools in medical weight loss.

At Livea, we offer both semaglutide (the active ingredient in Ozempic and Wegovy) and tirzepatide (the active ingredient in Mounjaro and Zepbound), in both brand-name and compounded forms — starting at $69/month.

Both are GLP-1 receptor agonists, but they work differently. Semaglutide targets only the GLP-1 receptor. Tirzepatide is a dual agonist — it targets both GLP-1 and GIP receptors, which tends to produce stronger appetite suppression and greater average weight loss in clinical trials (up to 20% vs ~14% with semaglutide in head-to-head data).

That said, individual responses vary. Some patients do very well on semaglutide with fewer side effects. Your Livea provider will help you determine which medication is the better fit based on your health history, goals, and any prior GLP-1 experience.

Microdosing refers to using smaller, sub-standard doses of GLP-1 medications. It can be used to:

  • Ease into treatment and minimize side effects like nausea
  • Maintain results after reaching goal weight without a full therapeutic dose
  • Support long-term metabolic health at a lower ongoing cost

Some patients find they get excellent results at lower doses with fewer side effects and opt to stay at a microdose rather than escalating. Your Livea provider will help you determine whether microdosing is appropriate for your goals.

Compounded GLP-1 medications prepared by FDA-registered 503B outsourcing facilities or state-licensed 503A compounding pharmacies are considered safe when sourced and prescribed responsibly — as Livea does. All Livea compounded GLP-1 prescriptions are physician-supervised and monitored throughout your program.

We only partner with reputable, licensed compounding pharmacies that follow all applicable regulatory guidelines. Your provider will review your health history to ensure compounded GLP-1 is appropriate for you before prescribing.

Compounded GLP-1 medications at Livea start at $69/month — significantly more affordable than brand-name alternatives, which can cost $900–$1,400/month without insurance. The exact cost depends on the specific medication, dose, and dosing frequency.

Brand-name options (Wegovy, Zepbound) are also available and may be covered by insurance in some cases. Your Livea provider will review all pricing options at your consultation.

Research shows that patients who stop GLP-1 medications abruptly without building supporting lifestyle habits often regain a significant portion of lost weight. This is why Livea pairs GLP-1 therapy with behavioral coaching, nutritional education, and ongoing support — so that when you taper off medication, you have the habits and tools to maintain your results.

We work closely with patients on thoughtful transition plans, including strategies like microdosing and gradual tapering rather than abrupt discontinuation.

Rapid weight loss from any source — including GLP-1 medications — can result in some muscle loss alongside fat loss. At Livea, we actively monitor body composition through regular InBody scans and prioritize preserving lean muscle mass throughout your program.

We typically recommend adequate protein intake (usually 100–130g/day or more depending on your lean mass), resistance exercise when medically appropriate, and may recommend adjunct therapies. Your care team will proactively address muscle preservation as part of your personalized program.

Nutrition & Lifestyle

5 questions

Livea does not require you to follow a rigid, pre-packaged meal plan or buy special food products. We provide personalized nutritional guidance based on your program, your metabolic data, and your food preferences. Some programs include structured phases with specific caloric targets, particularly during the active weight loss phase.

Our approach focuses on sustainable, realistic changes to your eating patterns — not elimination diets or extreme restriction that are impossible to maintain long-term.

Most Livea patients — especially those on GLP-1 medications — experience a significant and often dramatic reduction in appetite and hunger. Many patients describe it as the “noise” of food cravings simply going quiet for the first time in years.

For patients on Medical Weight Loss programs without GLP-1, some hunger is normal during caloric restriction, but our nutritional protocols are designed to minimize it. Your care team will structure your meals and snacks to keep you satisfied and prevent the intense hunger that derails most diets.

Moderate alcohol consumption is generally not prohibited on Livea programs, but it can slow your progress and interact with certain medications. GLP-1 medications may increase sensitivity to alcohol, meaning smaller amounts have a stronger effect — something to be aware of in social settings.

Your Livea provider will give you specific guidance based on your program and any medications you are taking. Most patients find that their desire for alcohol naturally decreases as their appetite changes on the program.

Exercise is not required to see meaningful results on Livea programs — many patients achieve significant weight loss without a formal exercise routine. The medical and nutritional components of your program do the heavy lifting.

That said, physical activity improves outcomes, supports muscle preservation, enhances metabolic rate, and contributes strongly to long-term maintenance. We encourage movement that is realistic for your current fitness level and health status.

An InBody scan is a medical-grade body composition analysis that uses bioelectrical impedance to measure your lean muscle mass, body fat percentage, visceral fat level, hydration status, and estimated basal metabolic rate — all in about 45 seconds. It is fast, painless, and far more informative than a standard scale.

Unlike a regular scale, which only shows total weight, an InBody scan tells you what your body is made of and how it is changing over time. You can be losing fat and gaining muscle even if the scale barely moves — and the InBody shows that progress clearly. Livea uses InBody scans at your initial appointment and at regular intervals throughout your program.

Yes. Livea offers telehealth appointments for residents of Minnesota and Wisconsin. Telehealth is available for initial consultations, follow-up visits, GLP-1 medication management, and health coaching. It is a great option for patients who live far from a clinic, travel frequently, or simply prefer the convenience of virtual care.

Appointment frequency varies by program. During active weight loss, most patients have:

  • Monthly provider visits (physician or nurse practitioner)
  • More frequent health coach check-ins (bi-weekly or as needed)
  • A follow-up within 4–6 weeks of starting GLP-1 medications to review dosing response

Your care team will outline a specific cadence at your first appointment.

Yes. If you move, change jobs, or find a different Livea location more convenient, you can transfer your care to any of our eight clinic locations or to telehealth. Your medical records, program history, and care plan all travel with you seamlessly.

Call 763-319-2020 or speak with your current clinic's care coordinator to arrange a transfer at any time.

Livea currently serves patients in Minnesota and Wisconsin through a combination of in-person clinic visits and telehealth. Our seven Minnesota clinic locations serve the Twin Cities metro and greater Minnesota, and our Eau Claire, WI clinic serves western Wisconsin. Telehealth is available statewide across both states.

Insurance & Payment

5 questions

Insurance coverage for medical weight loss varies widely by plan. Some insurance plans cover physician consultations and certain medications — particularly brand-name GLP-1s like Wegovy or Zepbound for patients who meet specific clinical criteria (such as a BMI over 30, or over 27 with a weight-related health condition).

Livea is doctor recommended and typically HSA/FSA eligible. We recommend checking with your provider to learn more about your specific coverage.

Livea accepts major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover), debit cards, HSA cards, and FSA cards at all clinic locations and for telehealth services. Cash and check are also accepted at in-person clinic visits. Ask your care coordinator about payment plan options if you need more flexibility.

Most Livea programs operate on a month-to-month basis without a long-term contract. Extended or customized programs may involve a longer commitment; your team will explain all program terms fully before you enroll.

We believe the best long-term outcomes come from patients who stay engaged because the program is working — not because they are locked into a contract.

Payment plan options may be available for certain Livea programs. We understand that the cost of a medical weight loss program is a real consideration, and we want to make quality care as accessible as possible for everyone who needs it.

Ask your care coordinator about payment plan eligibility at your consultation. Livea is typically HSA/FSA eligible — check with your provider to learn more.

Livea is doctor recommended and typically HSA/FSA eligible. Because our programs involve physician oversight and are prescribed for health improvement, they generally qualify as eligible expenses under most HSA and FSA plans.

We accept HSA and FSA cards directly at time of payment. For any reimbursement submissions, your Livea care coordinator can provide receipts and documentation. Check with your provider to learn more about your specific coverage.
